Musically this album is a departure from Mark’s first two, featuring arrangements with piano, cello, violin, flute, oboe, recorder and guitar. Mark is joined by producing partner and arranger David Snyder of Sonic Landscapes Music.
Faith at times it is easy to live it, particularly in a crystalline moment of understanding, of seeing and knowing the Truth. Then there are the “other” times; when I feel knocked down flat and it isn’t easy to have faith or live it ... what I like to call “face down in the carpet”. Still other times, it is to claim heaven in the middle of what appears to be hell. It always boils down to finding myself in a new, unexpected place, and asking: “Am I going to play now, in the midst of this uncertainty, go with it and see what happens? Maybe expand?” Or, will I pass on this moment? What I know is that most times I don’t know what’s coming next, but in the process of choosing to play I know there is a higher Intelligence guiding me; there is a magnificent Spirit at work in my life always no matter how it looks. Choosing to play is the moment faith occurs; it becomes something real, not just a concept or an idea.
For me it’s a Spirit Call a call to listen in those decisive moments, to trust a little bit more, and to ultimately step forward into life in a bigger way.
